For a TESOL course to have international recognition, it must be sanctioned by a government, an accredited university or an accredited vocational training college.


Moreover, according to the British Council, minimum standards include:

  • at least 100 hours of face-to-face instruction

  • 6 hours of critically assessed teaching practice

  • external validation
